V.For.Vendetta.2005.1080p.HDDVD.x264-WPi

5th of November is today! Which for those of you that don’t know much about this green and pleasant land is celebrated as Bonfire Night, and is the inspiration for the film V for Vendetta. While Alan Moore was less than please with the adaptation of this work (or that of its cousin, Watchmen) it still stands as a pretty decent effort for a first feature film from James McTeigue, who can claim credits for work on pretty much every major franchise film running through the final parts of the 20th and early part of the 21st century. If you like the film incidentally, I heartily recommend the comic book, which is even more fantastic than the live action feature.

Quality: Everything you’d expect from a 1080p rip really - awesome sound and picture, and even better looking if you happen to have an amBX system.

Synopsis: A shadowy freedom fighter known only as “V” uses terrorist tactics to fight against his totalitarian society. Upon rescuing a girl from the secret police, he also finds his best chance at having an ally.

Hellraiser.1987.1080p.BD9.x264-BDiSC

Oh, fond memories. I couldn’t find nightbreed (so if anyone posts links to that as well, thank you and I love you), so I thought I’d bring up yet another classic from both the horror archives and from the mind of clive barker. I remember being 11 and quite solidly petrified of this film, not least of all because of how uncompromisingly brutal, but at the same time beautiful it can be. The stop frame animation in this film, the look of pinhead have always been something of an inspiration to me, and the reason I fell in love with film in general so deeply. I think Hellraiser is, at least to me a classic because I’ve always felt that Clive Barker is much more raw and passionate than his contemporaries; most of his stories involve some manner of domination of submission of will from one person to another; an underlying hedonistic feeling of enjoying those things that society normally finds taboo. This, in essence is what Frank, in the form of the perverse, sadistic Pinhead embodies, and as a child made him far more frightening than the likes of Freddy Kreuger or Jason, or Michael ever could be. With these villains, the victims didn’t know what was going to happen to them, such is the nature of stalker/slasher movies; but in hellraiser, even in the trailer you’re told - “we’ll tear your soul apart”.

Excellent film, and a piece of an era long gone, and if you haven’t seen this one, I would heartily recommend watching it tonight with the lights off and a bunch of good friends. If you have, sit back and allow yourself to enjoy the story once more, as this one will never get old. Unlike anything after Hellraiser 2.

Quality: The screens don’t show it, but but you’ll be stolen by the beautifully crisp picture and sound for high definition viewing. I plan to enjoy this tonight.

Synopsis: The feature-film debut of multi-talented filmmaker Clive Barker, this grim and surreal project is based on the writer/director’s own novella The Hell-Bound Heart. The film opens with a chilling prologue in which globe-trotting pervert Frank (Sean Chapman) — a connoisseur of sexual depravity seeking the ultimate sensual experience — purchases a small, intricate puzzle box from an unseen dealer in an unspecified country. Upon solving the puzzle, Frank opens the door to a hellish alternate universe and is promptly torn to ribbons by a network of hooks and chains; his strewn body parts are subsequently collected by the Cenobites — grotesque, S & M-clad denizens of hell.

The.Way.Of.The.Dragon.1972.1080p.BluRay.x264-

Some of you may be thinking if this is called “The Way of The Dragon” then why am I using a poster of the Bruce Lee film “Return of The Dragon”, well the answers the simple, there the same movie just the title “Return of The Dragon” is well known is it is the US release title. Now that’s in order, who wouldn’t grab this, seriously! Bruce Lee on BluRay!!, well i wouldn’t because my bandwidth sucks, but if it didn’t I would! And the fact alone that it has Chuck Norris in should be reason enough to grab this!

Quality: Hello!! Full 1080p BluRay Rip!

Synopsis: Bruce Lee’s pre-Enter the Dragon outing is a surprising change of pace from his usual hard-hitting action fare because it favors humor as much as it does kung-fu. It’s also notable because it represents Lee’s only venture as a director. For the most part, Return of the Dragon works thanks to its charismatic star. Lee shows great comic timing in the humorous set pieces in addition to the usual physical prowess he displays during the action scenes. He also manages to utilize both skills at once on occasion, the best example being a scene where he squares off with a group of mobster goons at a restaurant. It also benefits from its picturesque Italian setting (a novel location for a kung-fu film) and an impressive fight finale between Lee and Chuck Norris (making his film debut). On the down side, the film’s low-budget shows and the other performers all pretty much pale in comparison to Lee. However, the real flaw with Return of the Dragon lies in its ending, which features a last-minute twist that doesn’t work because it is too unexpectedly tragic for a film that had previously been so lighthearted. Despite this misstep, it remains a likeable blend of kung-fu and comedy that is likely to bring a smile to the face of Bruce Lee

Given that the Star Trek franchise some what languished over the past few years this re-reconsideration was a highly anticipated and fortunately incredibly well delivered invigoration of the epic science fiction ideal. While this latest installment is a frankly brutal deconstruction of the original ‘trek’ ethos I have to concede that it was probably necessary for the story as much as the franchise. The action is explosive and full of punch; this really is everything a good action sci-fi film should be. Quality: This is the 1080p release in all of its glory. You can’t really get better unless you wanna pay the price for the bluray or download a 25 GB something release from usenet

Synopsis: The battle for Earth has ended but the battle for the universe has just begun. After returning to Cybertron, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force. The Autobots believing that peace was possible finds out that Megatron’s dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revives him using his own spark. The 1080p release by HDclassics which pred 4 days ago was over/undersized so here is the proper from group CiNEFiLE. Gladiator has become a bit of a modern classic so I’m sure a lot of you will enjoy this one. This is the EXTENDED version which is 16 minutes longer than the cinematic release.

Quality: The best quality you can get unless you want to buy the bluray.

Synopsis: A dying Marcus Aurelius plans to name his loyal and brave General Maximus as his successor in order to restore the power of the Roman Senate. However, his power-hungry, jealous son Commodus learns of the plan, murders Marcus Aurelius, and plans to execute Maximus in order to secure his claim to the throne. Maximus escapes execution, but is sold into slavery and is forced to become a gladiator. Eventually, Maximus and his fellow gladiators are sent to Rome to perform for Commodus. Through his bravery he wins over the masses and reveals his true identity, much to the chagrin of Commodus. Can Maximus use his newfound popularity to avenge Marcus Aurelius’ death, or will Commodus be able to keep the throne?
